Audio Lab

NewAudio Lab — master your finished song for streaming. Pauly suggests one of nine sound styles, cleans up hiss, and gives you a before/after player. On a computer, Mix & Master Stems mixes up to 12 stems and masters the mix on the same screen. Everything runs on your own device. Your file is never uploaded.

Audio Lab (Mastering)

Master a finished song for streaming. Everything runs on your device; your file is never uploaded.

  • Load your song — WAV works best (MP3, FLAC, M4A also work), up to 10 minutes. Pauly scans it (loudness, punch, width, harshness, hiss, clipping) and gives his take: a sound to try, how much hiss he hears, and whether the loudest hits are clipped.
  • Pick a path — Denoise & Master (the full master) or Repair Only (cleans up hiss and/or repairs clipping, no mastering).
  • Denoise & Master: pick one of nine Styles and set its strength (Off, Subtle 10%, Light 30%, Medium 50%, Strong 70%, Full 100%; the tick marks the tested default). Clean up hiss first is on by default. Repair clipping turns on by itself when Pauly hears clipped (flattened) peaks and rebuilds them before anything else; you can switch it off. Master my song → Before / after: flip Original / Mastered at the same loudness, or Removed hiss to hear what the cleanup took out (turned up 12 dB); change the sound while it plays and it crossfades to the new version.
  • Repair Only: tick Clean up hiss, Repair clipping or both (Pauly pre-ticks what the song needs) → Repair my song → flip Original / Repaired (and Removed hiss, turned up so you can hear it, when hiss cleanup ran), and download the repaired song (or the removed noise).
  • Download — a 24-bit WAV at −14 LUFS for streaming (or Quieter / Loud), best for distribution, or an MP3 at 320 kbps for sharing.

Tech numbers shows exactly what changed. Reset to defaults clears your saved choices.

1. Choose a song

Pauly’s listening to your song…

      2. Denoise & master your song

Cleans up hiss, sets the loudness and polishes the sound, ready for streaming.

      Loudness

LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) measures how loud a song sounds to people, not just its peaks. Streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music play songs at about −14 LUFS and turn louder songs down, so −14 is a safe target. Lower numbers (−16) are quieter with more breathing room; higher numbers (−9) are louder but squeezed.

      Sound

Pick a style, a genre, or both. With both, the genre sets the base tone and the style goes on top as a flavour. Each has its own strength.

      Style optional

      Genre optional

Strength: Off = no character moves, Subtle 10%, Light 30%, Medium 50%, Strong 70%, Full 100%. Each starts at its tested default (the small tick under the slider).

      Before / after

0:00 · "Same loudness" turns the louder one down so you hear the difference in sound, not just volume.

      2. Repair your song

Cleans up hiss and/or repairs clipped peaks, and leaves the rest of the music alone. No mastering.

      Before / after

0:00 · Switch between Original, Clean and Removed hiss while it plays; it keeps your place.

      Mix your stems

Stem mixing works on a computer.

Load the separate parts of a song (vocals, drums, bass and so on), set each one’s level and pan (or pick a genre for a starting mix), then master the mix and download it. Everything stays on your computer.

        0:00 / 0:00 Listen to:

        Peak – · Loudness – · Over 0 dB

        Starting mix

        Confirm your tracks

M mutes a stem, S plays only the soloed stems (just for listening: the master always uses the full mix). Click a waveform to jump there. Double-click a slider to reset it. On a slider: arrows nudge, Page Up/Down jump, Home turns it off.

        Mastering

Hear your mix mastered while you work on it. Pick a loudness and a style; Pauly masters the whole song (about 30–60 seconds for a long song) and the player switches to the master. Change anything and it updates; the last master keeps playing until the new one is ready.

        Loudness

Off for stems: separate parts are usually clean, and it adds time to every update.

        Style

Strength: Off = no character moves, Subtle 10%, Light 30%, Medium 50%, Strong 70%, Full 100%. Each style starts at its tested default (the small tick under the slider).

        Download the master

Same mastering as the Denoise & Master tab.
